Passion fruit is a small egg-shaped tropical fruit, which is also known by the name of Purple Granadillas. Passion fruit contains several seeds and has wrinkled purple brown rind on maturing. Fewer than 20 per cent of the subjects receiving the passion fruit peel (PFP) extract still had wheeze as a clinical symptom of asthma, compared to about 80 per cent of subjects in the placebo group, according to the findings, which were published in the journal NutritionResearch.

Moreover, coughing fell by 76 per cent in the extract group, compared to 47 per cent in the placebo group.

Ingredientes para 4 personas:

1/4 de trigo,
1 mazo de perejil picado finamente,
1 mazo de hierbabuena o menta picada finamente,
1/4 de Kilo de tomate picado en cuadritos pequeños,
1/4 de mazo de cebollin picado finamente,
3 cebollas grandes picadas en cuadritos pequeños,
sal,
limón al gusto,
aceite de oliva extravirgen al gusto.
Método: Se lava bien el trigo y se deja en agua por 1/2 hora. Se le pone la sal a las cebollas y a todas los demás vegetales, se revuelven y por último, se le agrega las vegetales al trigo bien escurrido, el limón al gusto y el aceite de oliva.

Este plato sirve para acompañar pescados y carnes asadas.

Megabytes, Gigabytes, These terms are usually used in the world of computing to describe disk space, or data storage space, and system memory. For instance, just a few years ago we were describing hard drive space using the term Megabytes. Today, Gigabytes is the most common term being used to describe the size of a hard drive. In the not so distant future, Terabyte will be a common term. But what are they? This is where it gets quite confusing because there are at least three accepted definitions of each term.

According to the IBM Dictionary of computing, when used to describe disk storage capacity, a megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes in decimal notation. But when the term megabyte is used for real and virtual storage, and channel volume, 2 to the 20th power or 1,048,576 bytes is the appropriate notation. According to the Microsoft Press Computer Dictionary, a megabyte means either 1,000,000 bytes or 1,048,576 bytes. According to Eric S. Raymond in The New Hacker’s Dictionary, a megabyte is always 1,048,576 bytes on the argument that bytes should naturally be computed in powers of two. So which definition do most people conform to?

When referring to a megabyte for disk storage, the hard drive manufacturers use the standard that a megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes. This means that when you buy an 80 Gigabyte Hard drive you will get a total of 80,000,000,000 bytes of available storage. This is where it gets confusing because Windows uses the 1,048,576 byte rule so when you look at the Windows drive properties an 80 Gigabyte drive will report a capacity of 74.56 Gigabytes and a 250 Gigabyte drive will only yield 232 Gigabytes of available storage space. Anybody confused yet? With three accepted definitions, there will always be some confusion so I will try to simplify the definitions a little.

The 1000 can be replaced with 1024 and still be correct using the other acceptable standards. Both of these standards are correct depending on what type of storage you are referring.

· 1024 Brontobytes = 1 Geopbyte

Disk Storage

· 1 Bit = Binary Digit

This is based on the IBM Dictionary of computing method to describe disk storage – the simplest.

Now let’s go into a little more detail.

Bit: A Bit is the smallest unit of data that a computer uses. It can be used to represent two states of information, such as Yes or No.

Byte: A Byte is equal to 8 Bits. A Byte can represent 256 states of information, for example, numbers or a combination of numbers and letters. 1 Byte could be equal to one character. 10 Bytes could be equal to a word. 100 Bytes would equal an average sentence.

Kilobyte: A Kilobyte is approximately 1,000 Bytes, actually 1,024 Bytes depending on which definition is used. 1 Kilobyte would be equal to this paragraph you are reading, whereas 100 Kilobytes would equal an entire page.

Megabyte: A Megabyte is approximately 1,000 Kilobytes. In the early days of computing, a Megabyte was considered to be a large amount of data. These days with a 500 Gigabyte hard drive on a computer being common, a Megabyte doesn’t seem like much anymore. One of those old 3-1/2 inch floppy disks can hold 1.44 Megabytes or the equivalent of a small book. 100 Megabytes might hold a couple volumes of Encyclopedias. 600 Megabytes is about the amount of data that will fit on a CD-ROM disk.

Gigabyte: A Gigabyte is approximately 1,000 Megabytes. A Gigabyte is a very common term used these days when referring to disk space or drive storage. 1 Gigabyte of data is almost twice the amount of data that a CD-ROM can hold. But it’s about one thousand times the capacity of a 3-1/2 floppy disk. 1 Gigabyte could hold the contents of about 10 yards of books on a shelf. 100 Gigabytes could hold the entire library floor of academic journals.

Terabyte: A Terabyte is approximately one trillion bytes, or 1,000 Gigabytes. Now we are getting up there to a size that is so large that it is not a common term yet. To put it in some perspective, a Terabyte could hold about 3.6 million 300 Kilobyte images or maybe about 300 hours of good quality video. A Terabyte could hold 1,000 copies of the Encyclopedia Britannica. Ten Terabytes could hold the printed collection of the Library of Congress. That’s a lot of data.

Petabyte: A Petabyte is approximately 1,000 Terabytes or one million Gigabytes. It’s hard to visualize what a Petabyte could hold. 1 Petabyte could hold approximately 20 million 4-door filing cabinets full of text. It could hold 500 billion pages of standard printed text. It would take about 500 million floppy disks to store the same amount of data.

Exabyte: An Exabyte is approximately 1,000 Petabytes. Another way to look at it is that a Petabyte is approximately one quintillion bytes or one billion Gigabytes. There is not much to compare an Exabyte to. It has been said that 5 Exabytes would be equal to all of the words ever spoken by mankind.

Zettabyte: A Zettabyte is approximately 1,000 Exabytes. There is nothing to compare a Zettabyte to but to say that it would take a whole lot of ones and zeroes to fill it up.

Yottabyte: A Yottabyte is approximately 1,000 Zettabytes. It would take approximately 11 trillion years to download a yottabyte file from the Internet using high-power broadband. You can compare it to the World Wide Web as the entire Internet almost takes up a Yottabyte.

Brontobyte: A Brontobyte is (you guessed it) approximately 1,000 Yottabytes. The only thing there is to say about a Brontobyte is that it is a 1 followed by 27 zeroes!

Geopbyte: A Geopbyte is about 1000 Brontobytes! Not sure why this term was created. I’m doubting that anyone alive today will ever see a Geopbyte hard drive. One way of looking at a geopbyte is 15267 6504600 2283229 4012496 7031205 376 bytes!

Now you should have a good understanding of megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes and everything in between. Now if we can just figure out what a WhatsAByte is……:)

My file management needs might not be the same as others. I found this new one that categorizes my files with tags and I really like it. I enjoy using this… this is exactly what I’ve always wanted. This might interest others… so here is the clip from the web page:

Everyone has different needs from a file manager. In my case, I have to needs: one for work and one for home. I’m an IT admin and one of the things I do a lot is copy and move files to and from various computers and servers. Having multiple panes visible at the same time is a great asset – in this respect Q-Dir is awesome. You can easily arrange panes in just about any configuration you might need and it’s easy to go back and forth between layouts.

Another thing that I like about Q-Dir is that I can type in a UNC path into the address bar. That’s a big help for me because it’s almost always much faster for me to type in where I want to go rather than clicking through menus. Even using the Q-Dir’s Favorites usually takes me longer than just typing in the UNC.

What really convinced me to use Q-Dir over any other file manager mentioned here is that it didn’t choke or freeze when accessing remote systems. All of the other file managers listed here that I chose to try out either froze or took a very long time to show files on remote systems. That’s totally unacceptable if you work with remote systems as much as I do. Q-Dir displays remote files and folders instantly (to be fair, Q-Dir will freeze up if you use the tree-view panel on remote systems).

If you need a file manager to primarily copy/move files to and from remote systems, you should definitely take a look at Q-Dir.

I have no idea if this is relevant to this catagory–I think it is–but I recommend this software called TreeSize Free. TreeSize Free allows you to easily see what is taking up your disk space by showing you the disk space usage of every single folder you have on your system. Within the program, you can delete folders and analyze various specifications of the folder’s contents.

I don’t know, check it out. It’s a nice program. I use it all the time when I’m running very low on disk space.

9 interesantes CMS para montar tu web de comercio electrónico!

Si estás pensando en montar una tienda para vender productos por Internet, seguro que alguno de estos CMS (Sistemas de gestión de contenido) te gustará. Con ellos podrás llevar cómodamente toda la gestión del sitio, sin tener mucho conocimiento de programación web.

1. Magento es una interesante plataforma para tu sitio de e-commerce. Tiene una arquitectura modular y muy flexible, esto significa que podrás ir añadiendo funcionalidades distintas gracias a nuevos módulos. Con Magento el control de tu sitio, será total. Ahora mismo Magento ha tenido más de 600.000 descargas. Tiene más de 60.000 usuarios y varios premios.

2. PrestaShop es, personalmente, uno de mis favoritos. Es un CMS muy profesional del tipo de los sitios con carrito en los que vas añadiendo tus productos. Es genial que puedas bajártelo y usarlo de forma gratuita! Soporta unas característica muy muy interesantes para tomar el control de tu tienda online.

3. Drupal e-commerce. Dentro del conocido desarrollo de Drupal, existen módulos que te permiten crear increíbles sitios de compras por Internet. Es totalmente gratuito y de código abierto, por si sabes/quieres cambiar algunas líneas de código. Es el sistema utilizado por grandes empresas de este sector.

4. WP e-commerce es una de la mejores soluciones para los amantes de WordPress como yo. Completamente integrable con el sistema de WordPress con el que manejas tu página. La instalación es realmente muy fácil y requiere sólo algunos minutos. Como estarás intuyendo, sólo tienes que bajarte el paquete y subirlo a tu direcctorio de plugins, para posteriormente activarlo desde el panel de administración. Puedes aceptar pagos con Google Checkout, Paypal, Authorize.net, Payment Express y otros sistemas. Muy recomendable!

5. Zen-Cart es un CMS que realmente recaen en el arte de comercio electrónico. Es libre, muy amigable en la interfaz usuario, de código abierto y del tipo de los del carrito. Está siendo desarrollado por un grupo de comerciantes online, programadores, diseñadores y consultores, con el concepto de que sea diferente al resto. Una maravilla.

6. CubeCart es otro de mis CMS favoritos en este campo. Está escrito para servidores que soporten PHP & MySQL aspecto muy común en la mayoría de servidores. Con Cube Cart podrás montar tu tienda online en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. Tendrás un control completo sobre tu tienda y podrás vender artículos digitalmente por todo el mundo.

7. osCommerce es otro CMS que tiene el código abierto. Otra solución para montar tu tienda en Internet. Está publicado bajo la licencia GNU (General Public License). Tiene unas características que harán que el control de tu tienda sea eficaz al máximo con el mínimo esfuerzo y sin costo alguno.

8. VirtueMart no es exactamente un Gestor de Contenido, pero es una solución Open Source para el e-commerce utilizándolo junto con Joomla! (y Mambo). Joomla! y VirtueMart están escritos en PHP, lo que hace más fácil su utilización en el entorno de PHP/MySQL.

9. FatFreeCart es el último que te propongo. Es un sistema libre para montar tu tienda en Internet. Está desarrollado junto con el equipo de E-junkie shopping cart. Lo increíble, es que puede funcionar en tu sitio web, en tu blog o incluso en tu página de MySpace. Para instalarlo no tendrás más que hacer algo de copy&paste. No requiere registro ni instalación. Trabaja con los conocidos PayPal y Google Checkout. Soporta el control de cambios de productos, de tasas, precios… etc.

Contra las manchas de la piel

Mezcle el jugo de un limón, una lima, dos cucharadas de miel y dos onzas de yogurt. Masajee esta mezcla sobre las manchas al menos una vez a la semana, más a menudo si las manchas son extremadamente oscuras.

Contra el acné

Si tiene barritos que aparecen súbitamente, pruebe con esto… Embeba un pompón de algodón en jugo de limón y aplíquelo directamente en el barrito o barritos antes de ir a la cama. Repita esto cada noche hasta que desaparezcan.

Contra la piel grasa y el acné

Mezcle 2 cucharadas de extracto de hamamelis (Hamamelis Virginiana o Witch Hazel) con 10 gotas de jugo de limón para una loción tónica para problemas de piel. Esto va a controlar la piel grasosa y a limpiar la superficie grasosa y sucia que contribuye a la aparición del acné. Puede mezclarlo en una botella y guardarlo en la heladera para hacer un tratamiento para el rostro.

Contra la piel seca

Consiga 3 naranjas maduras. Exprima el jugo en un envase con agua caliente. Empápese el rostro durante 15 a 20 minutos. El jugo de naranja va a rejuvenecer su piel seca.

El aceite de mandarina reduce la aparición de marcas de tirantez. Esto puede ser comprado en los negocios de comida sana. Mezcle el aceite de mandarina con unas pocas gotas de aceite de oliva para diluirla. Frote las marcas de tirantez y deje actuar al aceite sobre la piel.

Contra la celulitis

Celulitis: consejos para quemar cada tipo de grasa

Para quemar grasa en glúteos y piernas:P

- Es la más común. Los ejercicios más recomendables son subir y bajar escaleras, agacharse doblando las piernas.

- Las cremas especiales suelen dar buenos resultados. Se deben aplicar dos veces por semana y deben ser un complemento de la actividad física. Nunca deben utilizarse solas ya que la piel necesita estar activa y en funcionamiento para la buena captación de las sustancias.

- La dieta alimentaria es esencial y debe ser pobre en grasas.

- Beber al menos dos litros de agua al día

Para quemar grasa en la cintura:

- De pie y con las piernas separadas hay que doblarse lo más posible hacia un lado y otro. Reiterar este ejercicio varias veces y con el paso de los días, ir aumentando las series.

- Los geles especiales que son solamente para aplicar en la cintura suelen dar buenos resultados, pero siempre deben utilizarse a modo de complemento con la rutina deportiva.

- Las infusiones naturales ayudan a no retener líquidos. Esto impedirá la formación de grasa localizada.

Para quemar grasa en el abdomen:

- El ejercicio ideal es la natación.

- Los abdominales también son otra alternativa recomendada. Se puede comenzar con una serie liviana de diez repeticiones si nunca antes se ha hecho ejercicio. De a poco se irá aumentando la serie.

- Aumentar el consumo de frutas y verduras

- Evitar alimentos que produzcan gases

Para quemar grasa en brazos y pechos:

- De pie, con brazos y piernas abiertas, se van cerrando los brazos con las palmas de las manos abiertas hasta juntar ambos brazos. Reiterar la serie varias veces.

- Las pesas también son de ayuda. Levantar y doblar los brazos ayuda a fortalecer la zona.

- Con los brazos estirados pasarlos por detrás del cuerpo a un ritmo rápido. Reiterar varias veces.

- Si la adiposidad es mucha, se puede combinar la actividad de ejercicios con un gel reductor especial para esta zona del cuerpo.

Ya disponemos de una maleta dura para transportar la bicicleta Brompton, de un tamaño compacto y totalmente portable, con ruedecillas y asa extensible. La bicicleta cabe entera sin tener que desmontar nada de nada, excepto las bicicletas que tengan tija extendida. En este caso hace falta desmontar el sillín y sacar la tija.
